5 reasons women’s libido drops after 60 – it’s not all hormones

Men may be as much to blame for women’s decreased libido after menopause as the physical changes created by “the change”, according to a new study.
In findings published in Menopause, researchers found erectile dysfunction in male partners was a common theme, with women unable to orgasm because their partner couldn’t sustain an erection long enough.
In research aimed at addressing the lack of studies on menopause and libido in sexually active women over 60, University of Pittsburgh researchers conducted in-depth interviews and focus groups with 36 older women.
They concluded that low libido in older women shouldn’t be automatically attributed to ‘normal’ ageing or to menopause.
