6 facts on endometriosis in Australia

One in nine women between the ages of 40 and 44 have endometriosis, and more women are now being diagnosed younger, a report shows.
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) report reveals nearly 7% of women aged 25-29 have the condition.
Findings also show a higher percentage of women are now being diagnosed in their 20s, which could reflect increased awareness among the public and health professionals, the authors say.
Researchers used data from the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health, along with health service information, to estimate the prevalence of endometriosis in two groups of women.
