Govt pays universal bulk-billing GP practices $61 million under new incentive
While 3251 practices registered for the PIP payment, only 2949 have been paid out, the health department says.
The Federal Government has paid out more than $61.4 million across 2949 GP practices for the first two months of its new Practice Incentives Program payment for universal bulk-billing.
The new Practice Incentives Program (PIP) payment, split evenly between GPs and practice owners, reflects a 12.5% loading payment on the main GP Medicare items for practices that universally bulk-bill these items.
While 3251 practices registered for the new PIP payment, only 2949 have been paid out, says the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
The others had not met the bulk-billing requirements or had incomplete registration details, a department spokesperson said.
