A right royal scrap? King Charles III, the AMA and medicine’s republican debate

There are many issues in medicine that divide its practitioners, such as the ethics of male circumcision or say the authority script hotline.
But among the most contentious is the republican debate.
Last year, Professor James Nicklin and Dr Greg Robertson called on their college, RANZCOG, to ditch the royal prefix, describing it as outdated and offensive.
They said the royal prefix was “emblematic” of a colonial history and undermined RANZCOG’s calls for reconciliation to support Indigenous Australians and New Zealanders.
