‘A sad day for general practice’: Professor John Murtagh dies aged 89
Prominent GPs are leading tributes for Emeritus Professor John Murtagh, who has died just weeks after completing the latest edition of his groundbreaking general practice textbook.
Professor Murtagh, whose eponymous textbook, John Murtagh’s General Practice, is considered the gold standard reference for GPs, died peacefully on the weekend, surrounded by family.
He was 89, his daughter Julie Tullberg said in a LinkedIn post announcing his death.
“For dad, it was always about helping people,” Ms Tullberg told AusDoc.
