‘A teacher said I’d be a streetsweeper if I was lucky — now I’m an RACGP fellow’

Everybody wants a piece of Dr Justin Hunter.
One of the first Indigenous doctors in the Royal Australian Navy, he is now a fully fledged GP after passing the RACGP’s Clinical Competency Exam in June — contributing to a 100% pass rate for Indigenous candidates.
He is planning a Master of Medicine specialising in skin cancer and hopes to start advising governments on Indigenous health.
“It can be a bit overwhelming because you’re ‘that guy’, and that’s rare,” he tells AusDoc.
