Maternity care access at crisis point ‘in some areas’, Mark Butler says

The Health Minister outlined his second-term priorities at the AMA National Conference.

Parts of Australia are facing “a crisis of access” in maternity care, the Minister for Health and Ageing has told doctors at the AMA National Conference.

In his speech on Friday, Mark Butler outlined second-term priorities, including preventive care, obesity and the safety of single-treatment telehealth corporates.

But under questioning from doctors, he acknowledged that maternity care also needed political attention.

“In some areas, there is a crisis of access,” Mr Butler said.
