GPs in England are taking industrial action to protest a 1.9% NHS funding rise, after a near-unanimous vote from the British Medical Association’s GP members.

From 1 August, GP practices have a “menu” of protest options that include limiting consultations to 25 patients per day per doctor, refusing to provide data to NHS England or halting any voluntary services.

The British Medical Association (BMA) committee for English GPs said practices should choose which combination of actions to take.

“You may decide to add to your choices over the days, weeks, and months ahead,” it said in a message to doctors.
