After three years, the govt’s specialist fee website finally has some specialists’ fees

But only for a small number of services

It’s taken more than 1000 days, but the Federal Government’s specialist fees website has begun listing the fees of a small number of specialists.

Back in 2019, then-minister Greg Hunt promised to protect patients from “bill shock” with a website that publicised individual doctors’ fees.

Dr Charlie Teo was among the doctors to publicly declare they would sign up.

But when the Medical Costs Finder site went live, it only listed the average cost for 1300 procedures, with examples of high costs and low costs.
