AHPRA says IMG numbers have surged after bureaucratic brainwave

On Tuesday morning came news of a major breakthrough in the grand plan to dramatically increase IMG numbers to fix the nation’s medical workforce shortage.

It came in the form of an AHPRA press release which said it had triggered a “surge” in overseas doctors coming to Australia — some 5717 in the last financial year, 1205 more than in the previous 12 months.
