AHPRA wants new rules for doctors with HIV

Treating doctors will have to report doctor-patients with HIV and other bloodborne viruses who fail to show up for appointments without adequate explanation, under another AHPRA shake-up.
The watchdog has launched a consultation on the draft guideline designed to deal with infection risk to patients.
“Registered health practitioners and students who are living with a bloodborne virus must remain under regular medical supervision,” its draft states.
“They must seek and accept their treating practitioner’s advice on the safe limits of practice.”
