All patients under 35 should be eligible for bulk-billing incentives: RACGP’s election pitch

The RACGP wants bulk-billing incentives to apply to all 3.7 million Australians aged 34 or younger, rather than just children and concession card holders.

College president Dr Michael Wright was in Canberra on Tuesday morning trying to whip up political support for the RACGP’s 19-item federal election wish list.

The headline item is expanding bulk-billing incentive eligibility, which Dr Wright said reflected that two-thirds of young people were avoiding GP appointments to save money.

“We know young people are doing it especially tough and are more likely to have delayed care due to costs,” he said.
