New AMA crisis: State walks out after negotiations collapse
In March 2024, AMA WA also split from the AMA but later rejoined.
AMA Queensland is splitting from its federal counterpart after a three-year push to keep more revenue from membership fees ended without a deal.
From 1 January, AMA Queensland members will lose their federal AMA benefits unless they pay a separate subscription.
These members were told in an email from federal AMA president on Monday.
“At present, there is no agreement in place for conjoint membership in Queensland for 2026,” the email said.
