AMA says it’s reached its federal council gender goal

The gender target was set after a 2018 report revealed only 26% of the AMA's representative positions were filled by women

Three years after pledging to increase the number of women in leadership positions, the new AMA Federal Council is about to meet its gender diversity target for the first time. 

In 2019, the AMA set a goal for 40% of all representative positions on federal councils and committees to be taken up by women. Another 40% were to be set aside for men, with the remaining positions “flexible”.
