AMA split leaving doctors in the dark, warns former Queensland president

A former president of AMA Queensland says she knows of doctors who have paid thousands of dollars in fees to AMA Queensland without realising they are no longer part of the federal AMA.
The decision late last year by AMA Queensland to break from the federal AMA came out of the blue for many within the organisation.
With the move affecting some 5500 AMA Queensland members, the current president, Dr Nick Yim, argued that the state body could better represent their interests at both state and federal levels.
