The AMA wants GP registrars on government salaries

It says it's the best way to ensure they have the same pay and conditions as other specialist trainees

All GP registrars should be put on government-paid salaries which match or exceed the pay and conditions of other specialists in training, the AMA says.

It has urged the Federal Government to establish what it calls the ‘single employer model’, arguing radical reform is needed to address the slump in applications for GP training.
