AMA warns of ‘nationwide seeding event’ as millions go into lockdown

Millions of Australians have been forced back into lockdown this week to suppress the coronavirus infection rate, with the AMA warning of a nationwide “seeding event”.
Most states and territories announced fresh restrictions with new cases being linked to the outbreak in Sydney, which now involves 130 confirmed cases.
“We’re basically having a cross-country seeding event; that’s as simple as that,” AMA president Dr Chris Moy told The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.
“It’s beaten the NSW contact tracers. The reliance on contact tracers and holding out [on introducing a lockdown] for a few days has led to seeding across the country.”
