Anaesthetist suspended over COVID-19 vax social media posts

Dr Paul Oosterhuis says the Medical Council of NSW is trying to silence doctors whose public comments deviate from the 'official narrative'

An anaesthetist says he has been suspended under emergency powers for promoting ivermectin and questioning the risk and benefits of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines.

The action against Dr Paul Oosterhuis comes amid growing concern among regulators over the involvement of some doctors in fringe groups, particularly those promoting off-label treatments for COVID-19.

The Medical Council of NSW has confirmed it has banned the Sydney specialist pending a formal investigation to protect the safety of the public and to maintain public confidence in doctors.

Dr Oosterhuis has the support of a group calling itself Doctors for COVID Ethics, which claims to represent “hundreds of doctors and scientists from around the world” raising awareness of the “short- and long-term dangers” of COVID-19 vaccines.
