Anaesthetists fear they’ve been left off the priority vaccine list

Some say they've been told they're not in the early phases of the rollout, says Dr Suzi Nou, president of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists
Dr Suzi Nou.

Anaesthetists have sought assurance they are at the front of the queue to receive the Pfizer vaccine in the first stages of the rollout.

Dr Suzi Nou, president of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists, says it’s still not clear whether anaesthetists are considered priority healthcare workers.

Discussions are still continuing about which frontline staff will be targeted in phase 1A of the rollout, which is due to begin next week.

Dr Nou said a number of anaesthetists had been told they would not be part of the rollout’s first phase, which appears to include intensivists and ED staff..
