RANZCOG is facing a member backlash over its increasing fees amid wider struggles by the specialist colleges to make ends meet.

Last month, some 200 fellows signed a petition calling for a two-year fee freeze after the college announced the fee was increasing by 4% this year to $4018.

For context, this follows a 20% increase four years ago, then a fee freeze as a result of the COVID-19 impact and then another 15% the year after. 

With an 8% increase last year, this may be seen as a strictly local issue, but virtually all the specialist medical colleges, as we have written before, are under heave financial pressure.
