Another state expanding pharmacy prescribing to include acne and nausea

The broadened scheme in WA is expected to be in place by 2027: state government.
WA Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson.

The WA Government has given the green light to expand pharmacy prescribing to eventually include acne, nausea, wounds and more.

It said the move was a “logical next step” after allowing pharmacists to treat UTIs last year and extend scripts for the contraceptive pill earlier this year.

The expanded scheme is expected to launch in 2027 after a two-year process to finalise the details, it said in a statement on Friday.

But it said the additional conditions would include mild to moderate shingles, acne, dermatitis, musculoskeletal pain and inflammation, nausea, vomiting and wounds.
