For adults with dementia, antipsychotic use is associated with increased risks for stroke, MI, heart failure, VTE, fracture, pneumonia and acute kidney injury, according to a study published online 17 April in The BMJ.

Dr Pearl LH Mok (PhD), from the University of Manchester in the UK, and colleagues conducted a population-based matched cohort study to examine the risks for adverse outcomes associated with antipsychotic use in adults with dementia (aged 50 and older) diagnosed between 1998 and 2018.
