Prescribing low doses of GLP-1 RAs a long-term option, Lancet study suggests
Endocrinologist Dr Kishani Kannangara faced a clinical predicament recently — one that is increasingly common.
Her patient, a man in his early 50s, had life-threatening obesity but was unsuitable for surgery.
Dr Kannangara initiated a GLP-1 receptor agonist (RA), increased the dose to the maximum, and saw outstanding results: 70kg of weight loss.
“It was amazing to see this turnaround,” said Dr Kannangara from the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research in Sydney.
