Some senior doctors say they are being thrown on the scrapheap by AHPRA.

Their collective experience, skills and wisdom mean they have an enormous amount to offer in terms of teaching and nurturing younger generations of doctors.

However, Associate Professor Geoffrey Hawson says current medical registration requirements are “all or nothing”, forcing too many doctors nearing retirement to quit completely.

The president of the Australian Senior Active Doctors Association wants a step-down medical registration category to allow them to continue.
