Doctors have until 30 September to pay $1027 and renew their AHPRA registration or face a $30 surcharge.

The annual fee — which is slightly lower for NSW doctors, at $956 — has come under increasing scrutiny during a cost-of-living crisis, with the AMA calling for the Federal Government to provide more direct funding for AHPRA.

Doctors are also calling for a reduced fee for those who take parental leave.

This week, an AHPRA spokesperson said 85,287 doctors were yet to renew their registration, as of 2 September.
