Army and aid medics dispatched to rural communities

Concern over western NSW's growing COVID-19 outbreak has led to the deployment of defence personnel and an emergency medical team

Defence personnel and an emergency medical team will be dispatched to western NSW amid rising concern about coronavirus infections in Indigenous communities.

Five Australian Defence Force vaccination teams comprising 14 medics, nurses and logistics experts will be based out of Dubbo.

An Australian Medical Assistance Team, usually dispatched to international humanitarian disasters, is also expected to touch down in the region within two days.

There are about 100 coronavirus cases in western NSW.
