Aspirin may boost ovarian cancer survival: Aus study

Extra 2.5 months of life a 'significant' gain in the context of ovarian cancer, Queensland authors report

Low-dose aspirin may improve ovarian cancer survival, with women who regularly take NSAIDs more likely to live longer than non-users, Australian research shows.

Women who took NSAIDs at least four days a week post-diagnosis had 35% better survival chances than occasional or non-users at five years.

This translated to an extra 2.5 months of life, say researchers from Brisbane’s QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute.

“While this might not sound like a lot, it is significant for ovarian cancer,” said lead author Dr Azam Majidi (PhD).
