AstraZeneca scraps free Zoladex program after govt lists PBS alternative

The company has also delayed the planned delisting of Zoladex from the PBS until May 2027.

AstraZeneca has scrapped plans to provide its goserelin 3.6mg implant Zoladex free to eligible patients after the Federal Government secured a PBS listing for an alternative breast cancer treatment. 

The company has also delayed the planned delisting of Zoladex from the PBS by six months, until 1 May 2027.

AstraZeneca announced earlier this year that the goserelin implant would be removed from the PBS on 1 November for commercial reasons. 

It had planned to provide the drug free of charge for six months after the delisting to patients without suitable alternative treatment pathways, through a continuity program.
