The AusDoc interview: Professor Richard Scolyer on his experimental glioblastoma treatment

Professors Richard Scolyer and Georgina Long were recently named Australians of the Year.

It was for their work in the treatment of melanoma — they are currently co-medical directors of the Melanoma Institute Australia.

But as everyone knows, last year Professor Scolyer was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma following a seizure.

After speaking with Professor Long, he decided he would undergo the immunotherapy that they had pioneered, and which had revolutionised the treatment of melanoma over the last 10 years.
