Aussie docs urge government to intervene in Julian Assange case

Australian doctors have called on Prime Minister Scott Morrison to bring WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange home, after a UK judge ruled the whistleblower should not be extradited to the US.
Dr Robert Marr, spokesperson for the group Australian Doctors for Julian Assange, says Mr Morrison should urge incoming US president Joe Biden to drop an appeal and allow Mr Assange to return home following the UK court ruling.
“It is an absolute disgrace that the Morrison government has done so little to help Mr Assange and look after his health while he was suffering in the UK jail,” Dr Marr said in a statement.
“As doctors we call on the Morrison government to immediately ask the incoming Biden administration to drop any appeal against the UK court decision so that Mr Assange can be freed immediately and receive the medical treatment that he requires.”
