Aussie GP to hang up his stethoscope at 85-years old

Dr Bruce Spork has seen a few changes in his 55 years as a GP in Brisbane.
When he started out in 1965, the main treatment for asthma was adrenaline, medical records were kept on pieces of card and patients paid in pounds and guineas.
While that’s all been consigned to the past, one constant has been Dr Spork’s consultation room, where’s he’s seen patients for almost his whole career.
“We were originally in another place but I decided to build the current practice in 1967 and it must have been pretty comfortable because I’ve been there ever since,” he says of the small brick building in Ascot, in Brisbane’s east.
