Analysts have found an ‘uncanny’ link between the cup and a dip in private health insurance claims.
Financial analysts say they have proof that when the Rugby World Cup is on, surgeons tend to down tools.
After crunching the numbers, Macquarie Bank analysts said they found private health insurance claims for surgery drop every four years at the time when the global contest occurs.
Cause and effect?
“There is an uncanny correlation between the Rugby World Cup and lower private health insurance claims volumes as surgeons take leave,” says its research note called Upside Risk On And Off The Field.
