Axe rebates for non-GP specialists who charge double the schedule fee: union
Doctors who charge double the Medicare schedule fee should lose access to rebates for those consultations, the Health Services Union says.
The union has taken aim at non-GP specialist fees as part of its submission to the NSW Government’s healthcare costs inquiry.
It says half of its members report struggling to afford medical care.
Other recommendations include better monitoring of non-compliant MBS billing, a crackdown on unnecessary medical imaging and greater scope for pharmacists and allied health workers to ease pressure on GPs.
