Bacchus Marsh clinical director banned for deferring to obstetrician over baby deaths

A physiotherapist employed as the clinical care director of Bacchus Marsh Hospital during the baby deaths scandal has been struck off for two years despite being handed responsibilities that were “impossible to fulfil”.
Elizabeth Wilson was one of 43 workers at the Djerriwarrh Health Service investigated over a cluster of 21 perinatal deaths between 2008 and 2014.
Responsible for clinical governance, her position with the service was two rungs below the hospital CEO.
Her duties meant she was ultimately responsible for ensuring deaths were appropriately reviewed.
