Back of the class: Which medical colleges are rated worst by their own registrars?

Just over half of physician trainees felt their exams reflected their curriculum as one of the markers of their training experience.

Australia’s medical colleges have been given C and D grades by the doctors they are training, according to an AMA report card released earlier this week.

Not one of the 11 colleges got above C+ based on responses of 11,500 doctors in training who took part in the 2023 Medical Training Survey (see table below for full results).

The survey covers questions such as “The examinations always reflected the curriculum I was taught,” “I received useful feedback about my exams” and “I am confident I could raise queries about bullying.”

All the grades were awarded based on an analysis by the AMA, called the Specialist Trainee Experience Health Check.
