Bearded doctors wanted for mask study

Bearded doctors are being asked to take part in a study to assess a technique that could improve mask fit for health workers with facial hair.
Researchers from the Royal Melbourne Hospital are investigating if an under-mask beard cover will solve the problem of N95/P2 mask fit for health workers who cannot shave for religious or cultural reasons.
Known as the Singh Thattha technique, it involves the use of a long, wide elastic band that is placed over the beard, secured closely around the sides of the face and tied on top of the head.
The face mask is then worn with the seal formed on the band, which acts as an artificial skin.
