Professor Al Muderis threatens to sue for defamation over ‘bizarre and hurtful’ media allegations

The orthopaedic surgeon accused of abandoning patients in a series of news reports earlier this week says he is weighing up whether to sue for defamation.
Adjunct Clinical Professor Munjed Al Muderis, a two-time nominee for Australian of the Year, found fame for his journey to Australia as a refugee from the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq and his subsequent innovative surgical work.
His practice in Sydney uses a technique called osseointegration to attach prosthetic limbs directly to the bone, in an attempt to give patients more control over their prosthesis.
But his surgeries are now under fire from multiple patients, who allege they have been abandoned after the surgeries left them with pain, chronic wounds and infections.
