AHPRA letters are on their way to every GP as part of the continued crackdown on dodgy cosmetic surgeons, following a damning review of the industry.
Medical Board of Australia chair Dr Anne Tonkin said she had been “shocked” by allegations against cosmetic doctors such as Dr Daniel Lanzer, given there had been few formal complaints.
Patients went to the media alleging they had been left with deformities, nerve pain and psychological distress.
The independent review commissioned by AHPRA confirmed there was a culture of under-reporting of adverse outcomes in the industry.
