AHPRA email bungle exposes identities of doctors invited to addiction support webinar

An AHPRA spokesperson said the watchdog realised its mistake on the day the email was sent.

AHPRA has apologised to dozens of health practitioners after inviting them to a webinar on addiction and recovery without hiding their email addresses from other recipients.

The email, sent on 29 July, invited more than 100 doctors or other health practitioners to a webinar entitled “Addiction and recovery: Process, support and experiencing a health notification”.

Apparently a 60-minute Zoom webinar, it was aimed at health practitioners with an open notification related to alcohol or substance misuse, although any practitioner was permitted to join.

It is understood that not all the email recipients were the subject of an AHPRA notification.
