Breaking news: Queensland’s ‘dangerous experiment’ in pharmacist S4 prescribing to expand statewide

The controversial pharmacist S4 prescribing trial is being expanded to include the whole of Queensland even before the pilot covering 600,000 patients begins.

Both grassroots doctors and the presidents of the specialist medical colleges have warned of patient harms, with pharmacists free to prescribe S4 medications for a string of common conditions — including diabetes and asthma — as well as being given the greenlight to alter GP-prescribed medications.
