RACGP announces its next president

Dr Wright beat the RACGP's current vice-president by barely 100 votes after 7000 GPs voted.

Dr Michael Wright will succeed Dr Nicole Higgins as RACGP president after a narrow win in the college’s presidential election over current vice-president Associate Professor Michael Clements.

He will officially take the mantle at the RACGP’s national conference in November.

The chief medical officer at Avant and chair of the RACGP Expert Committee – Funding and Health System Reform won by just 109 votes after preferences (see the full results below).

Some 7105 RACGP members voted — up from 6443 at the last college election.
