Bulk-billing incentives: Best Practice warns of problems with new MyMedicare items

Software maker Best Practice has warned GPs that bulk-billing incentives linked to MyMedicare will need to be added separately to MBS claims following tomorrow’s Medicare overhaul.
From 1 November, concessional patients enrolled in the MyMedicare patient registration scheme will be eligible for tripled bulk-billing incentives for level C to level D telephone consults and level C to level E video consults.
For incentives not linked to MyMedicare, the usual automated process for adding them to claims based on concession status would still work, said Best Practice’s head of commercial and government, Jessica White.
However, the Best Practice software was unable to store information on patients’ MyMedicare enrolment status.
