‘Bulk-billing is not fast medicine’: Why this corporate CEO believes the new incentives are necessary

While the Prime Minister’s big announcement of an $8.5 billion cash injection to get GPs to bulk-bill 90% of their patients has not landed well with all doctors, there are those that have welcomed the news as important for patient care.
Among them is ForHealth CEO Andrew Cohen.
The company is important. It owns around 100 practices, with at least 1500 GPs, and clocking roughly eight million patient visits a year.Â
And it also runs around a third of the government’s Medicare urgent care clinics.
