Minister for Health Greg Hunt will not allow GPs to charge for wound dressings in bulk-billed consults, despite the reform being a key recommendation of his MBS Review Taskforce.

The taskforce has warned many practices were losing money on dressings, stressing the treatment systems for venous leg ulcers often cost more than the level B rebate, while even basic bandages were expensive in the context of bulk-billed rebates.
