Calls for GP disaster relief as ‘dozens of practices’ forced to close

GPs caught up in the floods sweeping NSW and Queensland say they need support to reopen, with some practices likely to remain under water into next week.
Dr Glynn Kelly estimates one-quarter of practices in Brisbane have been forced to shut owing to a combination of floods, road closures and power outages.
Chair of the RACGP’s Disaster Management specific interest group, he says his own practice is one of them.
“On Monday, my staff couldn’t get in because they were affected by the flooding, and we lost all our vaccine stock when the power went out,” he says.
