Can GP practices prevent MBS care plan theft?
A GP software platform is adding a function which tells the practice whether a patient is registered with them on MyMedicare.
One of your regular patients comes to the practice, and you decide to draw up a chronic disease care plan.
Two or three days later, you find out the Medicare billing was rejected. The reason: the patient was already registered with another practice.
It is probably not the best phrase, but the term ‘care plan theft’ does get used to describe what has happened under the Federal Government’s voluntary patient registration system.
To date, more than 2.6 million patients have signed up to MyMedicare.
