GP sued by naturopath reveals his $1 million defamation defence Â
A GP accused of defaming a naturopath has lodged a 358-page legal defence in the Supreme Court of Victoria claiming that patients died after following her advice.
Dr Adam Smith is being sued for $1 million by Farrah Agustin-Bunch, a US-based practitioner who markets various alternative therapies to some four million Facebook followers.
Three years ago, the Melbourne GP posted a series of videos for YouTube accusing her of quackery which were aimed at health-illiterate patients in the Philippines, where Ms Augustin-Bunch ran a cancer clinic.
He accused her of selling bogus cures such as ‘Mega Vitamin C’ and magnesium – which she branded as ‘Pixie Dust’ – for serious conditions like cancer and diabetes.
