Catholic doctors have been asked to support a bill which would force medical practitioners to resuscitate aborted fetuses, in a move that has been slammed as “ignorant” and “nonsensical”.

The Catholic Medical Association has emailed its members seeking their support of Queensland Liberal National MP George Christensen’s bill about treatment of live fetuses.

Mr Christensen’s Children Born Alive Protection Bill 2021 threatens fines for doctors who don’t provide medical care to to all fetuses born alive, including lifesaving actions.

The association has emailed doctors asking them to support the bill by sending a letter to Mr Christensen that would be tabled in federal parliament.
