Central obesity, not obesity based on BMI, predicts obstructive coronary-artery disease in postmenopausal women, research shows.

Past research has not found an association between coronary-artery disease (CAD) and overall obesity in postmenopausal women, the authors note, and body composition as measured by BMI may not be an adequate way to assess cardiovascular risk in this population.
