Children given adult COVID-19 vax dose in error
Dozens of children have mistakenly been given an adult dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, but few experienced adverse effects, according to the TGA.
A child’s dose of Pfizer’s Comirnaty is 10 micrograms, compared with an adult dose of 30 micrograms.
Most of the 42 vaccination errors reported in children 5-11 since the paediatric rollout began in January have related to dosing issues, the watchdog says.
The majority of these involved children aged 10 or 11 who received an adult dose, but some younger children were also given the wrong dose.
